Your privacy on ourSpaceShip
Last updated: 20 October 2026
ourSpaceShip is a small community site run by Moonlett. This page explains what we store about you, why, and what you can do about it. We keep it to what the site needs to work.
What we store
- Your account: an email address is optional. You can sign up with just a username and password. If you add an email, it's only used to log in, to verify it's yours, and to send password reset links you ask for. It's kept privately by Google Firebase Authentication, isn't shown on your profile, and isn't stored in our database. Without an email, your login uses a made-up placeholder address that can't receive mail. Passwords are handled by Firebase Authentication; we never see or store your password. We don't use Google accounts or any other sign-in.
- Your public profile: your username, display name, status, bio, profile picture and banner. Anyone can see these.
- What you do on the site: posts (and any pictures you add to them), comments, likes and shares; who you follow and the planets you orbit; planets you create and their details, staff and permissions. Posts, comments, follows, orbits and planets are public.
- Visits: when you're logged in and visit a planet or someone's profile, we note that you visited once, to show a visit count. Visits by logged-out visitors aren't recorded.
- ourPods: Pods you create or join (and their rooms, settings and membership passes), messages and reactions you send in rooms, your friends and friend requests, your Pod shortcuts and favorites, and your ourPods settings (whether you take friend requests from people you don't follow, and room alerts). Messages can be read by anyone who can see that room. Logged-in astronauts can see who your friends are and which Pods you're in (private Pods stay hidden). Your trust rating (how many reports about you staff have confirmed) can be seen by others.
- Blocking: the people you block. Only you can see your list, but someone you block can tell that you blocked them (they see a note instead of your profile and posts).
- Notifications: alerts about follows, mentions, replies, likes, shares, posts on planets you orbit and rooms you get alerts for, plus the kinds of notification you've muted. Only you can see your notifications and your muted kinds.
- Reports and bans: if you report a post, astronaut or planet, we store the report (including who sent it) so staff can review it. Staff can see reports; the astronaut or planet owner you reported can't. When your report is reviewed, you get a notification saying so (it doesn't say which staff member reviewed it). If an account is banned, we store the ban, its reason and who issued it. Staff can also mark accounts or planets to keep an eye on, with a short note only staff can see. When a planet is deleted, it's hidden straight away but kept for 30 days so it can be restored, then it and everything on it is erased. A short record (its name, owner, who deleted it and why) is kept for staff.
- Staff activity: actions taken by staff (such as bans, role changes, removed posts and deleted planets) are recorded with who did them and when, so the team can keep moderation fair. Only staff can see this log.
- Roles: founder, admin and moderator roles and the Verified badge are stored and shown publicly.
Emails we send
We only email you if you've added an email, and only these: a link to verify your email when you sign up or add one, a link to confirm a new email when you change it (plus a notice to your old email so you can undo it), and password reset links when you ask for one. They're sent through Google Firebase. No newsletters or marketing.
Stored in your browser
The site keeps a few small things in your browser's local storage: who you're logged in as (including your email and whether it's verified, if you added one), notifications you've read, planets and kinds of notification you've muted, how you've set out ourPods (like which panels are open), and a copy of your profile edits. These stay on your device and you can clear them by clearing your browser's site data.
Where it's kept
Everything is stored with Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore). Google processes this data on our behalf; see Google's privacy policy for how they protect it. We don't sell your data, show ads, or share it with anyone else.
Deleting your data
You can delete your account at any time from Edit profile → Delete account. This removes your login, email (if you added one), profile, username, posts, follows, orbits, shares and notifications, plus your ourPods memberships, friends, friend requests, the people you blocked, and your ourPods and notification settings. Planets and Pods you created stay on the site. Some leftovers, like comments you made on other people's posts, messages you sent in Pod rooms, or reports you sent, may remain until a moderator or the Pod's owner removes them.
Children
ourSpaceShip isn't meant for children under 13. If you think a child under 13 has an account, please contact us and we'll remove it.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
